security risks
There are occasional political protests in Kuwait, but they rarely become violent
Kuwait faces occasional threats from Middle East terrorist groups, including Islamic State and Iran – allied Iraqi militias. However, the last major terror attack occurred in 2015. Iran-allied Iraqi militias have threatened to target U.S. bases in Kuwait and rockets occasionally impact sites along the Iraq – Kuwait border.
Kuwait has a low overall crime rate. Petty crimes, including pickpocketing, and sexual harassment most commonly occur in crowded market areas. Although Kuwait has an extensive, modern, and well-lit urban roadway system, excessive speeding, lax enforcement, and high vehicle density leads to frequent accidents and a high overall traffic fatality rate.
